Semi Permanent Make Up

Do you pencil in your brows daily? Struggle to get that eyeliner even? Are you suffering from loss of pigment or definition to your lips?

Semi-permanent makeup may be the answer to your problems.

This is a super popular service that can allow you to achieve that professionally applied makeup look every day. With new techniques and styles constantly evolving gone are the days of the block, square brow and heavily outlined lip, instead think soft focus, powdered edges, feather like hair strokes and naturally blushed lips.

Consultation

Starting with an in-depth consultation where I will establish your desired look, colour and shape and using a makeup pencil, begin by drawing a template onto the skin to give you a realistic impression of the finished result.

Treatment

Semi-permanent makeup is otherwise known as semi-permanent tattooing or micropigmentation. The treatment involves a single (nano) needle or small cluster of needles controlled by a digital machine, depositing small amounts of mineral based pigment into the dermal (second) layer of the skin.

Throughout the treatment an anaesthetic will be applied to the treated area to keep discomfort to a minimum. There is no formal downtime post treatment, how ever swelling can vary from client to client. After your treatment I will take the time to discuss aftercare in detail, this will predominantly involve keeping the area clean and dry.

Re-touch

6-8 weeks after your initial treatment you will return to the salon for your retouch appointment. This gives the opportunity for any minor alterations and will give a second wash of colour to your tattooed area (think of it like a second coat of nail polish). This will boost and enrich the colour and leave you with that low maintenance, get up and go look that you have been waiting for.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is it called Semi Permanent make up if it’s a tattoo?

Unlike traditional tattooing I use an organic pigment rather than an ink when tattooing. The needle deposits this pigment at a very shallow, even depth to enable the true colour to be seen, if deposited too deep the layers of skin distort the colour making it appear ‘milky’ or grey.

In time the colour of the pigments will fade and although it will not disappear completely it may turn to an undesirable shade. In order to keep you semi-permanent make up looking fresh a top up is recommended every 12-18 months.

Can I wear makeup after my semi-permanent makeup treatment?

Your treated area will need to remain clean and dry, if you have had your eyebrows tattooed it may be recommended that you use an antiseptic cream to help soothe any irritation and keep the scabs that will form post treatment in position whilst the skin beneath heals, for this reason no makeup should be applied to the tattooed area for up to 2 weeks.

Does Semi permanent make up hurt?

Prior to tattooing a numbing cream will be applied to prepare the skin, this is very affective and will ensure discomfort is minimal. An anaesthetic cream will be reapplied throughout the treatment for your comfort.

Most people describe the tattooing sensation as an irritable scratch that is completely bearable, post treatment you may feel sensitivity or mild tenderness for several hours.

Is semi-permanent makeup and microblading the same?

Microblading is a method of semi-permanent makeup. Microblading is used for eyebrows only and involves the technician using a hand held single or small cluster of tiny blades to cut the skin and then deposit pigment into these fine incisions creating the appearance of hair strokes.

Tattooing involves a digital machine controlling a single or small cluster of needles.

The needles will perforate rather than slice the skin, at a steady speed and even depth meaning that the pigment is less likely to bleed out and the trauma to the skin is minimal. Microblading cannot be used on delicate areas of the eye and lip.

Love Notes

If you need wedding makeup, book Chloe right away! She did wedding makeup for me, my mum and my bridesmaids. We all felt amazing and our make up did not budge all day and night even though I cried the whole way through the ceremony! Chloe is so talented and everything just went so smoothly, I couldn't criticize a single thing. My mum and one of my bridesmaids don't really wear makeup, and were worried about looking overdone, but she listened to what they wanted and made them feel so comfortable. To top it all off she is such a lovely lady and helped make our morning fun and calm! Thank you so much Chloe x
