Wedding Day Beauty Prep

WEDDING DAY BEAUTY PREP

So, you have got the ring, booked the venue and said yes to the dress, now it’s time to think about that other thing that demands your attention before the wedding day…. you.

‘Self-care’ is a well-documented lifestyle factor that we quite often forget to factor into our life but with your big day looming and the prospect of all eyes on you, now really is the time to start thinking about putting you first, especially you hair and skin.

For many this will be the start of a beauty regime, for others and opportunity to revamp your current routine but for all it should be an enjoyable, relaxing and empowering experience.

So where to start? Here are my top tips for making you look (and feel) a million dollars on your big day:

1. Drink more water

It sounds simple but this is likely to have the biggest impact. Water flushes your body of toxins that make our skin dull and lifeless. It can dramatically improve cell renewal and so expect a clearer complexion, stronger nails and longer hair as well as leaving you less bloated, and actually filling you up and meaning you are less likely to snack because you won’t feel as hungry!!

2. Ditch the face wipes!

Ditch the face wipes! The fact is that these do little more than smear your makeup around your face leaving your skin tight, dehydrated and still pretty grimy.

Remove your eye makeup properly, it’s not ok to get two days out of your mascara application and then cleanse your skin, twice and please even if your oily, moisturise.

If you are unsure which products best suit your skin type feel free to message me, speak to a dermatologist or take a trip to your nearest beauty hall, those glamourous ladies at the counter are all there to help!

3. Exfoliate

This for me is the holy grail of skin care. You can buy the most expensive makeup, invest in the best brushes and have untold applications skills but all is wasted if it’s being used on a layer of dead, flaky skin.

Twice a week take a couple of extra minutes of an evening to get down and dirty and give your skin a good scrub. Dermalogica Daily Superfoliant is one of my favourites, this resurfacing, anti-pollution powder is super gentle and will leave your skin instantly smoother and brighter.

No time? No excuse, Pixi Glow tonic is a cult favourite and with good reason. Glycolic acid, aloe and ginseng brighten and refine the complexion, just apply a small amount to a cotton pad and wipe over face and neck before moisturiser. Ta-dah!

4. Buy a mask!

Hair masks are a massive deal and for good reason. Our hair is put under stress daily with tight top nots, heat damage and product overloading. Give your hair a break and invest in a good mask and use it regularly, preferably overnight to deep cleanse, rehydrate and strengthen that mane.

5. Finally get your beauty sleep

Planning a wedding can be super stressful with so much to consider and arrange but the middle of the night is not the time for this. Buy a wedding planner and leave it by your bed, if you think of something in the middle of the night jot it down and you can back to it the next day, getting your shut eye is equally important.
